Egon Schiele: The Radical Nude

This is both a really well presented exhibition and a very popular one. The two gallery rooms were quite crowded when we went to see it over the weekend.

Schiele's nudes are defined by thick charcoal outlines and odd colouring. He's particularly fond of purple legs. He also tends to favour ambiguous and expressive poses in which bodies become weirdly distorted. His model's aren't posed very conventionally either. My favourite is Crouching Woman with Green Kerchief from 1914, which does what it says on the tin.

Egon Schiele: The Radical Nude is at the Courtauld gallery until the 18th of January, 2015.
